The Supreme Court (SC) has officially suspended Dwight Aldwin S. Geronimo, a Sheriff IV of Branch 121, Regional Trial Court, Imus City, Cavite, after being found guilty of accepting bribes in connection with a drug case.
Following Antolyn Dones Gonzales’s complaint of Gonzales asking for ₱200,000 in order to speed up the process of her friend’s drug case Monib Saadoning Amatonding.
According to the Supreme Court’s report, Geronimo introduced himself as the nephew of the judge handling Monib’s case, promising that Monib will be granted bail.
Gonzales initially paid ₱115,000, in which Geronimo accepted and blocked Gonzales after.
The Judicial Integrity Board (JIB) found the sheriff guilty of misconduct and recommended Geronimo’s dismissal.
The SC agreed to JIB’s proposal, stripping Geronimo of all his retirement benefits and permanently banning him from government employment. | via Florence Alfonso
