Water Rate Changes to Hit Households on July 1

Starting July 1, 2025, water rates in Metro Manila and nearby areas will be adjusted under the Foreign Currency Differential Adjustment (FCDA) program, the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System Regulatory Office (MWSS-RO) announced.

Maynilad customers (West Zone) will see a slight increase of ₱0.005 per cubic meter. For most households using 10 cubic meters or less, the monthly bill will rise by only ₱0.01. Meanwhile, Manila Water consumers (East Zone) will benefit from a ₱0.12 per cubic meter reduction, translating to ₱0.55 in savings for those in the same consumption bracket.

The FCDA is a quarterly adjustment that reflects foreign exchange fluctuations affecting the companies’ loan repayments in currencies such as the US dollar, Japanese yen, and euro. Households under the “enhanced lifeline” rate—typically low-income consumers—will not be affected by the rate changes.

MWSS urged consumers to monitor their usage and repair leaks to help keep water bills low.
