Reorganization in Executive Agencies, approved by Senate

The Senate approved on third and final reading Senate Bill 890, or the Government Optimization Act. The proposed measure seeks to grant the President the authority to reorganize or streamline executive agencies to improve the delivery of public services.

According to Senate President Francis Escudero, the bill’s principal author, the measure is not about cost-cutting but about enhancing government efficiency. He emphasized that layoffs or displacement of employees are not the primary objectives of the bill.

The bill aims to eliminate redundancy, simplify regulations and processes, and may lead to the creation of new positions, offices, and skill upgrades for government employees.
