Palace: Bridge rehab a must to avoid disaster

The iconic San Juanico Bridge is getting a makeover, and Malacañang says it’s for everyone’s safety! The Palace urged the public to stay calm and positive as repairs might shake up daily routines.

Press Officer Claire Castro warned: “Better fix it now than face a deadly disaster later!”

The DPWH is stepping up placing all agencies on high alert as the bridge undergoes partial closure. Only light vehicles will be allowed to cross for now, with a weighing station to boot!

To ease the chaos there are 13 shuttle buses, 24/7 service ready, Public assistance desks on both ends and Ferry talks underway for stranded passengers!

Built in 1969 under Marcos Sr., this 2.16 km landmark isn’t just a bridge — it’s a lifeline for Eastern Visayas. And now, it’s getting the TLC it badly needs before cracks turn to catastrophe. | via Allan Ortega | Photo via PNA/Sarwell Meniano
