AFP Chief of Staff Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. has assured the public that there will be no coup d’état under his leadership, pushing back against rumors of unrest within the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
“As long as I am Chief of Staff, no coup shall happen. Not on my watch,” Brawner said in a firm statement on Wednesday. He described the AFP as a strong, professional institution committed to reform, accountability, and respect for civilian authority. Brawner expressed full confidence in the integrity and discipline of military personnel and urged the public not to be misled by unfounded accusations. He warned that spreading false narratives only threatens to undermine a vital institution that protects the nation.
Brawner emphasized that AFP remains focused on defending the country, preserving peace, and upholding the Constitution. He urged Filipinos to choose unity and responsible discourse over division and speculation. | via Dann Miranda | Photo via PNA
