DOTr, DepEd, UK enters agreement for Education City development

The Department of Transportation (DOTr), Department of Education (DepEd), and the United Kingdom Embassy have entered an agreement to develop a transit hub at the DepEd Complex, Taguig City.
The said 13-hectare complex will host the transit hub, linking with both the Metro Manila Subway and North-South Commuter Railway.

Following President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s initiative of easing the commuters’ travel, the Senate DepEd Transit Oriented Development (SEED) Project plans to develop an Education City through a transport hub.
Through the SEED Project, the government also aims to create green and education places with the purpose of encouraging the use of public transportation, walking, and cycling.

“It is important for the entire country because this project will pave the way for better projects in the future—not only transportation projects but also education projects,” said DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon during the signing of the agreement.

Moreover, Dizon also emphasized the importance of their partnership with other agencies, saying “our partners will be critical to the success of very important projects.”

Meanwhile, DepEd Secretary Sonny Angara stated that the project will be a big step for progress and development, particularly in the transportation sector.

“This project will have a same catalytic effect not only on Taguig but definitely Philippine transportation. We have the DOTr to shepherd and speed up this project,” the Education Secretary stated. | via Florence Alfonso | Photo via DOTr
