AFP to assists filipino abroad affected by global conflicts

The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has assured Filipinos overseas that they are fully prepared to assist them amid the rising global tensions they may be experiencing.

AFP chief Gen. Romeo Brawner Jr. said in an interview that the military has a contingency plan to offer help to these Filipino citizens if their situation overseas requires evacuation for their safety.

He affirmed that this operation is called “non-combatant evacuation operations” (NEO), and the military has been doing this operation for a long time.

“Nung nagkaroon ng problema po sa Middle East, ay nagpadala tayo ng dalawang barko na sunduin ’yung mga Pilipino na gustong umuwi po sa ating bansa,” Brawner revealed.

If ever a similar situation happens again, Brawner promised that the military’s C-130 transport aircraft and naval vessels are ready to be used when needed. | via Clarence Concepcion | Photo via PNA
