Additional migrant workers, to be deployed in South Korea

Because of labor shortages in the agricultural and fisheries sector, 22,000 additional seasonal migrant workers are set to be allocated during the second half of this year in South Korea, the justice ministry stated.

The allocation was approved during a joint meeting with the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs and the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, which will deploy 22,731 seasonal workers to 100 local governments in the country.

This decision marked a 41% increase in the total number of seasonal workers this year compared to last year’s, which increased from 67,778 to 95,700. | via Florence Alfonso | Photo via Yonhap
