Award-winning tenor and The Voice grand winner Sofronio Vasquez will lead the singing of the Philippine national anthem at President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s 4th State of the Nation Address (SONA) on July 28, Malacañang announced Tuesday.
The Presidential Communications Office said Vasquez was chosen to blend “tradition and excellence” and to highlight Filipino talent and national pride. Vasquez, a native of Misamis Occidental now based in the US, rose to fame as the first Filipino and Asian male winner of The Voice (Season 26). He was also a standout in Tawag ng Tanghalan (2017, 2019).
Meanwhile, Malacañang has kept the content of Marcos’ SONA under wraps, but confirmed that the President is personally preparing it. The annual address is expected to present the administration’s key achievements, priorities, and plans moving forward. | via Allan Ortega | Photo via msn
