A flight carrying 18 stranded overseas Filipino workers due to conflict between Israel and Iran in the Middle East successfully landed in the country this morning, June 16, 2025, according to the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) and Overseas Workers Welfare (OWWA).
According to Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac, the Government gave out clear instructions and is willing to help the affected OFWs regarding the repatriation.
“President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. gave clear directives to help our Kababayans, our OFWs, who are affected by the ongoing tensions in the Middle East. We stand continually ready to asist and support our OFWs who wish to go home for safety and security,” Cacdac stated.
Cacdac and OWWA Administrator Patricia Yvonne Caunan also ensured the full government aid to the repatriated OFWs in their return at NAIA Terminal 1, Pasay City.
Additionally, despite being initially stranded in Dubai due to the temporary closing of airports due to the ongoing tension, the DMW gave out food and airport assistance to the OFWs before boarding Philippine Airline Flight PR 659 last night, June 15, 2025.
The DMW is also in full coordination with the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to further assess the situation in the countries and to ensure the safety of the OFWs. | via Florence Alfonso
