PBMM on Forging Partnerships Based on Mutual Respect

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the Philippines’ commitment to an independent and inclusive foreign policy on Wednesday, emphasizing that the country will “build bridges, not walls” in its international relations.

Speaking during the Vin d’Honneur in Malacañang for the 126th Independence Day celebration, Marcos said the Philippines will continue to forge partnerships based on mutual respect, cooperation, and shared goals. He stressed that diplomacy—rather than division—is key to addressing global challenges such as climate change, migration, and regional peace.

The President also highlighted how the country has evolved since its founding in 1898 into an active player in international affairs, contributing to global efforts while pursuing sustainable national development. By strengthening alliances and focusing on collaborative progress, Marcos said the Philippines aims to be a “trusted and responsible partner” in the global community. | via Dann Miranda | Photo via PCO
