The Philippine House of Representatives approved House Bill No. 11376, titled the “Wage Hike For Minimum Wage Workers Act,” on its third and final reading. The bill passed with 172 affirmative votes and 1 abstentions.
This legislation mandates a ₱200 daily increase in the minimum wage for all private sector workers, irrespective of employment status or industry. It also allows the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards to grant additional wage increases beyond the mandated ₱200, in line with the provisions of the Wage Rationalization Act.
To support small enterprises in implementing the wage hike, the bill provides for incentives through the Department of Labor and Employment. Additionally, certain industries may be exempted from the wage increase upon the law’s enactment. The bill now advances to the Senate for deliberation. | via Dann Miranda | Photo via House of Representatives
