Thousands of OFWs, families flock DMW Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Caravan in Region 3
Delivering on the commitment to make services and programs more accessible, close to two thousand overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their families from Region 3 flocked to the OFW Bagong Pilipinas Serbisyo Caravan in San Fernando, Pampanga this February 25, 2025.
The caravan, held at the Bren Z. Guiao Sports Complex and Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga, brought together the various services of the DMW and other government agencies, including pre-employment, welfare and legal assistance, reintegration support, financial literacy and business education, and healthcare.
In his video message, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. stressed that the Bagong Pilipinas caravan is one way of honoring the sacrifices of the OFWs by providing services, programs, and opportunities that will cater to their needs and will allow them “to grow, excel, and prosper.”
“This is a day for a chance to reaffirm our participation in our shared goal of moving forward and building a Bagong Pilipinas where citizens can thrive and reach their full potential,” President Marcos said in his message to the OFWs.
Speaking in front of the OFWs and their families, Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo J. Cacdac added that the President has always the welfare of the OFWs in his mind, whether they are abroad or staying here in the country waiting for their re-deployment.
“To our beloved OFWs and their families, para po sa inyo ang event na ito, your sacrifices and hard work fuel the dreams of our nation, and we will remain committed in the name of the leadership of President Marcos Jr. in our mission to serve and support,” said Secretary Cacdac.
Highlights of the caravan are the signing of two convergence agreements. These include: a memorandum of agreement between the DMW, the Department of Labor and Employment-Region III, TESDA Region III and the Provincial Government of Pampanga; and another agreement between the OFW Hospital, the Jose B. Lingad Memorial Hospital, Department of Health-Central Luzon Center for Health Development, and the provincial government.
These agreements aim to foster stronger cooperation between the national and local agencies in uplifting the lives of OFWs in the province of Pampanga through strengthening the safeguards against illegal recruitment, safe and legitimate ways of working overseas, and healthcare services.
As of 2:30 P.M., a total of 1,930 jobseekers attended the event that had at least 20 accredited Philippine recruitment agencies (PRAs) that participated in the overseas Jobs Fair for Filipino workers.
Meanwhile, at least 100 beneficiaries were awarded financial and livelihood assistance under the AKSYON Fund and the LPOR (Livelihood Program for Overseas Reintegration) of the DMW-National Reintegration Center for OFWs.
Other government agencies that joined the caravan and offered their own services include the Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation, Department of Labor and Employment, Philippine Statistics Authority, Pag-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, TESDA, Social Security System, OFW Hospital, and the Overseas Filipino Bank.
The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) represented by Deputy Administrator Honey Quiño provided fun and entertainment to OFW communities during their OWWA’s Hour, with their exciting games and prizes.
