Matagumpay na pinangunahan ng Commission on Elections (COMELEC) ang European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) para sa presentasyon ng Final Report and Recommendations para sa 2025 Midterm Elections nitong May 12.
Ginanap ang presentasyon sa Chairman’s Hall, Palacio del Gobernador, Intramuros, Manila kahapon, July 12, kasama sina EU EOM Chief Observer Marta Temido at COMELEC Chairman George Erwin M. Garcia.
Ayon sa ulat, kinilala ng EU EOM ang mas umayos na sistema ng pagboto, gaya na lamang ng mas maagang voting hours para sa seniors, persons with disabilities (PWDs), at mga buntis, mga priority lanes, at mas angat na teknolohiya sa pagboto.
Ngunit dagdag din dito, kinilala rin ng samahan ang mga naganap na vote-buying at hati-hating opinyon sa social media apps.
Ayon pa kay COMELEC Chairman Garcia, malaking tulong ang komento ng EU EOM na ito upang mas lalo pang maging sistematiko ang botohan sa bansa sa mga susunod na taon.
“This is an eye-opener for everyone. With the help of EU, we can now have a partner in convincing our Congress that this is the most high time to change our rules… We were very glad in reading this [final report], and in implementing your recommendations,” saad ni Garcia. | via Florence Alfonso | Photo via COMELEC
